Bettye Scoggins

Bettye George Scoggins, 61, of Hope, formerly of Rosston, died Friday, September 20, 1996, in Columbia Medical Park Hospital in Hope.

Born July 26, 1935, in Rosston, she was the daughter of Luther and Amanda Jackson. She was a member of Pine Grove AME Church in Rosston and after moving to Hope she joined Mt. Zion CME Church. She was a volunteer in the Medical Park Hostial Auxililary.

Survivors include her husband, Luther Lee Scoggins of Hope; one son, Charles Scoggins of Hope; four daughters, Barbara Jean Scoggins, Bettye Joyce Scoggins, Cherrie Lee White of Hope and Charlene Martin of Barstow, Calif.; her mother, Amanda Jackson of Rosston; two brothers, W.D. Jackson and L.B. Jackson of Stephens; three sisters, Emma Banks, Lillie Mae Jones of Stephens, and Ledora Farmer of Muskegon, Mich.; and four grandchildren.

Services were held Friday, September 27, at Mt. Zion CME Church with Rev. Andrew Banks officiating. Burial was in Scott's Memorial Garden in Perrytown under the direction of Hicks Funeral Home of Hope.
