PHS Penalized For 95 Yards In Win (cont)Published Wednesday, October 2, 1996 in the Nevada County PicayunePrescott had 16 offensive plays and Bismarck had 18. No wonder it took so long. The fourth quarter was controlled by Prescott with the Wolves getting 90 yards on the ground while Bismarck had 13 on the ground and five through the air. In all Prescott had 18 first downs to the Lions' 12. The Wolves had a total of 443 offensive yards, their biggest game this season. Bismarck had a net of 201 yards. Johnston attempted 13 passes for Prescott, completing six for 134 yards, three for touchdowns. Shultz attempted 19 passes, completing five for 62 yards. He had two intercepted and he missed 12. Prescott had 309 yards rushing with Tracy Stafford getting 81 on the ground. He was followed by Vanhook with 79 yards and Marlow with 74. Stafford averaged 13.5 yards per carry, Marlow 9.25, and Vanhook just over 6. But in the fourth quarter Jared Yates, who was put in the fullback position, had two runs for a total of 26 yards. Bismarck lost the ball to Prescott three times on turnovers -- two interceptions and one fumble. The Lions gave the ball twice to Presoctt on downs and the Wolves gave the ball once to Bismarck on downs. The game ended around 10:30 p.m. This week the Curley Wolves will attempt to break the four-game winning streak Nashville has going, and the Scrappers will be trying to do the same to Prescott.
