Man Found In Burned Trailer

Published Wednesday, October 2, 1996 in the Nevada County Picayune

A trailer fire resulted in the death of a 61-year-old Prescott man. According to Jim Westmoreland, criminal investigator with the Nevada County Sheriff's Office and Prescott Police Department, the fire occurred sometime between 2-6 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24 at a camper trailer on the James Roy Brown farm.

He said the body of Eddie Lee Collins was found in the ashes and sent to the Arkansas State Police Crime Lab in Little Rock for an autopsy. Dr. Frank Peretti, with the crime lab, said the cause of death was the inhalation of smoke and soot.

Westmoreland said foul play is not suspected in Collins' death.

The cause of the fire is not known at this time and is under investigation by the Arkansas State Police.
