Logging Games Set For Forest FestivalPublished Wednesday, October 9, 1996 in the Gurdon TimesThe International Paper Logging Games will be held Saturday, Oct. 26 during the 16th Annual Gurdon Forest Festival. IP has sponsored these games each year during the festival's existence, which was organized by the Gurdon Community Development and Entertainment (CD&E) Club. The festival is held the last Saturday in October each year. Jessie Runyan, logging supervisor at IP, will be the director of the games, which include log sawing, log loading and other specialty forestry games. These contests will be held on Front Street between Main and Joslyn streets. The log sawing contest will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, while the log loading event is slated for 1 p.m. "IP is a proud sponsor of the Gurdon Forest Festival," Runyan said, "and would like to invite all local loggers, contractors and sawers to the games.
