ss that was knocked down. The Scrappers were then penalized half the distance to the goal for lining up offsides.

A pass in the end zone for Ross Cowling missed and it was fourth down time again. This time Johnston handed off to Vanhook, who went in for the TD. On the two-point try, Johnston was again successful as he connected with Jeremy Morrow, but time was running out.

With 1:23 left on the clock, the Scrappers held tightly to the ball as the game ended.

There could be a lot of excuses made for the team, but I doubt if the players or the coaches are making any. It is not state champs to do so.

Some of the excuses could be there were penalties that were not called against Nashville, two players (Flemons and Vanhook) and defensive coach Ed Tyree were sick, and the list could go on.

The truth of the matter is, Nashville is good; Prescott is also good. It will be up to the Curley Wolves to come out of the depressed state and look to Friday's game against De Queen. They can meet the Scrappers on down the road.

Prescott finished the game with 15 first downs, but Nashville finished with 21.

The Scrappers tallied 431 total yardage, including the defensive 38- yard run for the TD. Prescott had a total of 204 yards.

Sam Marlow led Prescott on the ground with 71 touch yards. The Wolves had a total of 113 yards rushing. Johnston attempted 23 passes, completing eight for 91 yards.

McBride attempted 29 passes, completing 18 for 265 yards. The game's leading rusher was Nashville's Witherspoon with 80 yards.

Nashville had five penalties against them with three adding up to 40 yards in the third period. Prescott was only penalized twice for 10 yards.

The Wolves fumbled twice to Nashville, and the Scrappers fumbled once to Prescott.

Game time Friday night is 7:30. Between 4:00 and 7:00, however, the FBLA students from Prescott High will be having a fish fry.

Featured will be filets, slaw, French fries, onion and iced tea. Tickets will be available at the door.

For those who enjoy music, the Prescott band has its halftime program worked out -- a very enjoyable one.
