The 1999 Clark County Fair Queen nomination deadline has been extended to July 30. Contestants must be 16 years old on or before the day of the pageant and not over 21, never married nor had children.

The fair queen competition is part of the fair pageant to be held on September 13. Talent and Little Miss contests also will be held during the Pageant, but the application deadline is August 31.

Application forms are available at the Clark County Extension office, 423 Clay street, in Arkadelphia.

First Church of God on Highway 67 South will have a visiting speaker from the Voice of the Martyrs group Sunday, August 1, at 6:00 p.m. Everyone is invited.

Voice of the Martyrs is a organization that aids Christian victims of religious persecution.

First Presbyterian Church of Gurdon will have its morning service on Sunday, August 1, at the Tate's Bluff Presbyterian Church near Chidester. Members will participate in the Tate's Bluff centennial celebration. The worship service will begin at 9:00 a.m.

A program will follow at 10:00 a.m. and a catered lunch will be served from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Members who need directions or a ride call Pastor Gene Edwards at 353-6626 or 353- 4871, or Linda Bullard at 353-4880, or Diane Ross at 353-2877.

Coming Home Pack a Pew Family and Friends Day program will be held August 1 at St. Clair Missionary Baptist Church in Burtsell. Special guest will be Rev. Charles Gatlin, of Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church in Center Ridge.

Program will begin at 2:30 p.m. and end with a repast in the fellowship hall. Everyone is invited.

Recipes are needed for a cookbook that is being compiled by supporters of the Little League Association with the proceeds of the sale of the cookbook benefitting Cabe Field and the association.

The regular board meeting of the Area Agency on Aging of West Central Arkansas will be on Thursday, August 5, beginning at 10 a.m. The meeting will be at the Area Agency on Aging office in Hot Springs, 905 West Grand Avenue. The public is invited to attend.

Gurdon High School class of 1989 10-year reunion will be held soon. If you have not received information about the reunion or you know someone's address that the reunion committee does not have call Kevin at 246-3547 or Teri at 353-2729.

Arkansas Rehabilitation Services will be in Gurdon on July 29 at the Gurdon Municipal building from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. New applicants are welcome. Call 353-2514 for an appointment or more information.

Gurdon Masonic Lodge 187 meets the first and third Tuesday of each month. All members are urged to attend.

Alcoholics Anonymous meets on Wednesdays and Sundays at 8:00 p.m. at the American Legion building, Highway 67 North, one mile out of Gurdon.
