A residential burglary, committed about 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, is being investigated by the Nevada County Sheriff's Office.

The burglary occurred off County Road 9 east of the Union Church, at a place owned by Mark Durcho.

The theft of weapons, two freezers and a lawnmower, is being investigated by Nevada County Sheriff Harold Vines and Jim Westmoreland, criminal investigator for the NCSO and Prescott Police Department.

Entry was gained into the residence through a back door.

ARREST MADE

A second arrest has been made in connection with the burglary of the George Clary equipment shop in Emmet on Aug. 21.

Tracy Williams, 20, of Emmet, has been charged with commercial burglary and theft of property, both felonies. He was charged as an accomplice to Paul Tucker, who was arrested earlier in connection with the break-in.

Williams has been released on $5,000 bond.

HIT AND RUN

Officers with the NCSO are investigating a hit and run, which occurred Wednesday, Oct. 2, on County Road 29.

According to Westmoreland, a 1983 Chevrolet sedan, driven by Charles Hicks, of Rosston, was topping a hill on CR 29 when it met a green Ford pickup allegedly driving in the middle of the road.

Hicks reportedly tried to avoid the pickup, but was sideswiped and forced off the road. He was not injured in the mishap.

Westmoreland said the driver of the truck did not stop. About $2,000 in damage was done to the Chevrolet. The accident was investigated by Wayne Kisselburg.

On Oct. 3, Mike Miller of Prescott reported his 1977 green Ford pickup as having been stolen from the Bluff Springs Cemetery.

Westmoreland said the two cases may be connected, and the investigation continues.

BIKE STOLEN

The NCSO is investigating the theft of a 1985 Kawasaki 500 motorcycle from the front yard of Jerry Bunch.

According to Westmoreland, the dirt bike, green in color with DMC printed on the seat, was taken sometime during the night of Oct. 1.

He asked anyone with any information about this case, or seeing a motorcycle matching this description, to call the NCSO at 887- 2616.

BREAK-INS

A series of break-ins is being investigated in the Ridgewood and Robin Hood area.

Westmoreland said person(s) went through vehicles and storage buildings of five homes in the area sometime Thursday night, Oct. 3.

He said several small items were taken in the break-ins.

Westmoreland asks anyone with information concerning this to call him at the NCSO at 887-2616.

He encourages residents to keep their vehicles and out buildings locked, and be aware of any suspicious activity in their neighborhoods.
