Published Wednesday, October 16, 1996 in the Nevada County Picayune

Community residents are invited to participate in a stewardship workday sponsored by The Nature Conservancy's Arkansas field office at Terre Noire Blackland Prairie Natural Area on Saturday, October 19. Terre Noire Natural Area, located eight miles west of Arkadelphia on Route 51, is jointly owned and managed by The Nature Conservancy's Arkansas field office and the Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission, a division of the Department of Arkansas Heritage.

The day's activities include approximately two hours of cutting cedars and other woody vegetation between isolated prairie openings and collecting prairie seeds for replanting degraded areas. A short hike around Terre Noire Natural Area, guided by the Nature Conservancy's science staff will follow. If you are interested in participating in The Nature Conservancy's stewardship workday, please contact Jackie Weiler at The Nature Conservancy's Arkansas field office in Little Rock at (501) 663-6699 for information on the meeting time and location.
