Bluff City Homemaker's Meet

Published Wednesday, October 16, 1996 in the Nevada County Picayune

Bluff City Extension Club met Thursday night of last week with 21 attending.

Several members were dressed for Halloween and modeled their costumes.

Reports were favorable concerning the county fair with members reporting their many blue ribbon entries. Becky O'Neal, Vernell Lowe and Helen Garner made us proud when they won "Best of Show" on the club booth. It was a well planned and interesting booth.

Marguerite Tomlin, club president, read thank you notes from the Franklin family, the Jesse Barlow family and Helen Garner.

Marguerite reported that the countywide quilt, which was made earlier and given at the fair, grossed the Extension Clubs $541.73.

Patty Miley, a home economist with Henderson State University, gave a talk on home decorating, showed interesting slides and taught everyone to make tassells for their home decorating.

Oleta Nelson was elected vice president to replace one who was unable to attend meetings regularly.

Secret pal gifts were given, viewed and enjoyed.

The members were reminded of the county council meeting October 22 at the Methodist Church in Prescott. Potluck dishes will be served. The Bluff City members will be in charge of registration.

Margaret McKenzie was appointed to be "wagon master" for a club trip scheduled in the near future in order to enjoy the fall foliage.

Ruth Sullivan and Margaret McKenzie served the group sandwiches, chips and dips, salad, assorted dishes of candies, cakes and drinks.

Everyone enjoys attending and visiting with friends and neighbors so much that before we got started good we realized we had used up three hours on the clock. Hopefully some of the visiting can be done on our outing trip.
