Oct. 27 Race PlannedPublished Wednesday, October 16, 1996 in the Gurdon TimesThe South Clark County (Gurdon) Jaycees is planning a 5k run and walk for Sunday, October 27, the day of the Air Exposition at the conclusion of the Forest Festival. The Jaycees are now seeking participants in this event. The race will start on Main Street, signifying the close of the Forest Festival and finish at the Lowe Field, Gurdon's airport, signifying the start of the Air Exposition. This is the first year for the 5K run and the Jaycees need help for it to become an annual event. Anyone interested in participating in any of these events should call Kenneth Harper at 353-4025, or register the day of the run. Each entrant will receive a t-shirt. Trophies will be given to the first and second place winners in each of the events. Third place winners will receive a medallian. Cost of entry is $15. The Jaycees are also sponoring a Car Bash during the festival. A car will be provided for individuals to buy a ticket and bash the car with a sledge hammer.
