Early Voting EncouragedPublished Wednesday, October 16, 1996 in the Gurdon TimesThe Arkansas Association of County Clerks announced October 11 an effort to encourage Arkansans to take advantage of the early voting process during the year's election. "Under a new law passed last year, it is easier than ever to vote early," Crawford County Clerk Patti Hill, the president of the association, said. Early voting begins Monday, October 21, which is 15 days prior to election day. In order to cast a ballot, a voter simply needs to go to the courthouse during regular business hours and ask to vote early. No excuse is required. The paperwork normally associated with absentee voting is no longer necessary to vote early in this process, although the forms are still required in order to absentee by mail.
