Gurdon Pounces On Red Devils, 32-0 (cont)BY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, October 23, 1996 in the Gurdon Times e times for eight yards. Allen carried once for three yards. The Devils have an outside chance at making the playoffs again this year. They are currently fifth in the 7A-West behind Murfreesboro (7-0 overall and 4-0 in the conference), Mineral Springs (6-1, 4-1), Horatio (6-1, 3-1), and Stamps (4-3, 2-2). The top four teams in the district will go to the playoffs. This week is Gurdon's homecoming. The Devils will host Foreman (1-6, 1-3) a team already eliminated from post-season play, but a squad that would like nothing more than to play spoiler for Gurdon in more ways than one. Following this week's game with Foreman, the Devils still have to face league leading Murfreesboro on Nov. 1 and end the regular season with Horatio Nov. 8. Winning two of these last three, with some help from other teams, could give Gurdon the impetus it needs for post-season action. Should Gurdon make the playoffs, the Devils would face the winner of the 7A-E. At this time, Bearden leads the pack with a 6-1 overall record and 5-0 conference mark. They are followed by Rison at 6-1, 4-1 and Strong, 6-2 and 4-1. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
