Hughes Announces In Ward 6Published Wednesday, October 23, 1996 in the Gurdon TimesGlen Hughes announces his candiacy for alderman in Ward 6. He is married to Rose Marie and they have two children and five grandchidren. He is a 1995 graduate od Henderson State University and has been an employee of International Paper for 10 years. In making his annuncement he states, "I am an avid believer that any branch of government should be nothing more than an extension of the voter's wishers. Personally, I do not feel this has been the case in recent years in Gurdon." "If elected to the position of Alderman of Ward 6, I'll have only one vote per issue, but I can assure the voters of my Ward it will be a vote of their wishs." "The voters of Ward 6 will be informed of upcoming issues to be voted upon by phone, the local paper, or in person. All I ask is to be informed of how those in Ward 6 feel toward those issues."
