Louise Frances SteedPublished Wednesday, October 23, 1996 in the Nevada County PicayuneLouise Frances Steed, 68, of Fort Meyers, Florida, formerly of Prescott, Ark., passed away on October 15, 1996, following a brave battle against cancer. She was born May 8, 1928, in Prescott, Arkansas. She attended Covenant Presbyterian Church. Louise received with honors her BA and Masters Degree from Henderson College. While working toward her doctorate degree in speech therapy, she taught High School English and Speech. Much of her time and energy was devoted to her grandchildren, wanting to make a difference in their lives. She is survived by her daughters, Karla Steed of Ocala, Fla. and Sheila Kagan and son-in-law, Dr. Bo Kagan, Ft. Meyers, Fla.; five grandchildren, Andrew and Nicole Fernung, Ocala, Fla., Lisa, Stephen and Ward Kagan, Ft. Meyers, Fla.; her mother, Susan Avery, Prescott, Arkansas; two sisters, Marie Cromer, Blevins, Arkansas, Lorene Gibson, Little Rock, Arkansas; three brothers, Alton Avery, El Dorado, Arkansas, Doris Avery, Arkadelphia, Arkansas, Clarence Harper, Little Rock, Arkansas. Our family would like to thank everyone who showed such compassion and caring for all of us during this very difficult period of our lives. We will always appreciate your kindness. Mom, you were here for us on earth, now you can watch over us smiling from God's Heaven! We miss and love you. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 26, 1996, at Midway Methodist church, Prescott, Arkansas. Rev. Jerry Westmoreland officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Brazzel-Cornish Funeral Home, Prescott, Arkansas. Memorial contributions may be made to the Midway Church or to Midway Cemetery.
