Trailblazers Make Trip To Branson For ShowsPublished Wednesday, October 23, 1996 in the Nevada County PicayuneForty-six Prescott Trailblazers recently took a holiday trip to Branson, Mo. They left Saturday, October 12 and returned on Monday, October 14. When the group arrived in Branson they had reservations at the Stage Door Canteen at the Lawrence Welk Resort Center for lunch. Saturday afternoon they went to the Wayne Newton Theater to see Wayne Newton perform. It was a fabulous, great star-spangled show. The Trailblazers had reservations at the Grand Palace Theater Saturday night to see Legends in Concert. It is the world's biggest celebration of the superstars. This is a million dollar spectacle filled with superstar music, nonstop laughs and dazzling production numbers, all performed on the biggest stage in Branson. Another highlight of the trip was going to the Charlie Pride Theater to see Jimmy Travis and Janie Fricke perform, which has already been called "a county classic in the making, full of extraordinary good music and hilarious comedy." Sunday night they had reservations at the Mickey Gilley Theater to see Mickey perform. The trailblazers went by Big Cedar Lodge on their way home Monday morning. Those making the trip from Prescott were Sybil Sherman, Bobbie Gautsche, Polly Phillips, Virginia Easterling, W.J. and Blanche Oliver, Mariam Purtle, Curtis and Mary Johnson, Gertrude Firmin, Mary Loe, Rosie Capps, Lois McCain, Marie Eley, James and Ann Oliver, Vernon Buchanan, Ervin Fairchild, Allene Spencer, Ima Hamm, Marty Williams, Derald and Vicki Glass, John L. and Lenora McWilliams, Billie Ridling, Coye Miller, Ada Mae Haynes, Bud Vandiver and Jeannie Taylor. Out-of-towners included Bobbie Hendrix of Antoine; Grady and Canelia Hasley, Marie Adair, Kenneth and Margie Stone, Emilie Prescott and Ann Parker, all of Hope; Polly Caldwell of Benton, Betty Bowdle of Delight; Debbie Powers of Texarkana; James and Wanda Glen Martin of Hot Springs; Pat Keen of Houston, Texas; Peggy Butrick of Summit, Miss.; Sue Lambert of Tallulah, La.; and Ernest Kirkham of Shreveport, La.
