Charlie Jenkins

Charlie Andrew Jenkins, 84, of Rosston died Friday, October 4, 1996, at the Ouachita Medical Center in Camden.

Born March 31, 1912, he was the son of the late Luvenia Young Jenkins and W.L. Jenkins. He was a World War II army veteran and a retired bus driver for the Oak Grove School District in Rosston. He was a member of New Salem AME Church in Rosston, where he served as Sunday school superintendent and a steward. He was an active member of the Golden Crown Lodge 411, Prince Hall affiliation in Rosston.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice J. Turner Jenkins.

Survivors include a daughter, Helen Jenkins-Franks of Little Rock; a son, Charles Jenkins Jr. of Houston, Texas; and two sisters, Nellie M. Jenkins-Cross and Lula Q. Beasley Kendricks of Rosston.

Services were held Thursday, October 10, at New Salem AME Church in Rosston with Rev. Lessly Banks officiating. Burial was in New Salem Cemetery in Rosston under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Stamps.
