The Nevada County Extension Homemakers Clubs' fall council meeting was held October 22 at the First United Methodist Church.

The Bluff City Club was in charge of the registration, which started at 6:00 p.m., and the meeting was called to order by Ruby Wicker, president.

The welcome was given by Lenora McWilliams of the Fair Hills Club, who welcomed everyone with her rendition of Minnie Pearl. The invocation was given by Beverly Loe of the Forest Hill Club. This was followed with a delicious potluck dinner, enjoyed by all.

After dinner, Geraldine Jefferson of the Prescott Club led the group in the reading of the Creed. The thought for the day was given by Ann Loe of the Double `C' Club. President Wicker then asked for the roll call, which showed a total of 50 members and guests present.

The minutes of the spring council meeting were then read and approved, as was the treasurer's report. One member, LaRue Griffin of the Redland Club, had been lost by death since sprng.

There were two 50-year members, Julene Hulan of the Redland Club and Alberta Hamilton of the Prescott Club, preent. There were two members with perfect attendance. They were Huey Shewbirt of the Forest Hill Club and Marguerite Tomlin of the Bluff City Club.

Prescott and Bluff City Clubs tied for the most new members, each having two.

Members who made blocks for the quilt given away at the fair were asked to stand. Helen Morris of the Prescott Club was given money for pizza for two at the Pizza Hut for having sold the most tickets (80).

The following members were chosen as homemaker of the year by their respective clubs: Ruth Sullivan, Bluff City; Charlotte Tinsley, Double `C'; Nancy Smith, Fair Hills; Ruth (Huey) Shewbirt, Forest Hills; Helen Morris, Prescott; and Julene Hulan, Redland.

Charlotte Gorman, county Extension agent -- Family and Consumer Sciences, thanked the six ladies for the excellent articles which were then submitted to out-of-town judges for determination of the overall Nevada County homemaker of the year, as well as the work they had done and still were doing for the Extension Homemakers Clubs.

She advised there was a very small differential among the six, and the final decision made by the judges was Julene Hulan, of the Redland EHC, who was also a 50-year member as of July of this year.

An excellent musical program was then presented by Heather Calicott, which was enjoyed by all. Ruby Wicker then read a letter from Hazel Langston, thanking the clubs for their help at the Hillcrest Care Center.

The meeting was then adjourned.
