Suspect Is ArrestedPublished Wednesday, October 30, 1996 in the Nevada County PicayuneAn arrest has been made in the break-in cases in the Robin Hood and Ridgewood additions in Prescott. According to Jim Westmoreland, criminal investigator for the Prescott Police Department and Nevada County Sheriff's Office, Robert Benjamin Parmer, 21, of Nevada County was arrested Tuesday, Oct. 22, by Hope Police on a Nevada County warrant. Several vehicles and storage buildings were broken into on Oct. 3 or 4, with several items being taken, including a firearm and chainsaw. Westmoreland said the break in the case came when he and reserve deputy Jesse Westrbook found several of the stolen items, including a shotgun and chainsaw, in a wooded area near the two neighborhoods on Oct. 11. Once these items were found, further investigation led authorities to believe Parmer was responsible and a warrant was issued for his arrest. However, the suspect was not immediately found once the warrant was issued, though, Westmoreland said, it was believed he was "bouncing" back and forth between Hempstead and Nevada counties. He was arrested by Hope Police Oct. 22 on the warrant and returned to Nevada County and charged. Parmer has been charged with 10 counts of breaking or entering, three counts of theft of property, with one of these a felony count, and could be charged with felon in possession of a firearm. His first appearance in court was today. Westmoreland said investigation into the case continues to see if Parmer may have had an accomplice.
