Military NewsPublished Wednesday, July 28, 1999 in the Nevada County PicayuneArmy Pvt. Josh D. Ratcliff has arrived at Fort Benning near Columbus, Ga., to complete basic military training. During the training, the soldier will receive instruction in drill and ceremonies, map reading, tactics, military customs and courtesies, physical fitness and first aid. Ratcliff is the son of Gail Ratcliff of Prescott. Army National Guard Spec. Domenique K. Harper has deployed to Southwest Asia as a member of the Army Central Command to participate in Operations Desert Falcon or Desert Focus. The soldiers involved in Operation Desert Falcon provide on-going air and missile defense in Saudi Arabia and in Operation Desert Focus soldiers provide force protection for Patriot missile sites in Southwest Asia. Harper, an infantryman, is assigned to Company B, 153rd Infantry, Eskan Village, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He is the son of Gracie Gilder of 110 E. Pine in Prescott.
