County Is Declared Disaster By FSAPublished Wednesday, November 13, 1996 in the Nevada County PicayuneNevada County in Arkansas has been designated by the Farm Services Agency (FSA) administrator as a natural diseaster area. This designation results in the county being eligible to apply for physical loss loans through USDA's Farm Service Agency. Wayne Perryman, state executive director of FSA for Arkansas, says the designation for Nevada County may make many family farmers eligible for emergency loans due to damages and losses caused by a tornado which occured on September 15. The Emergency Credit Agricultural Act of 1984 provides that adjacent counties also be designated. Those counties are Clark, Columbia, Hempstead, Lafayette, Ouachita and Pike. This action means that family farmers and ranchers in the counties named, as a result of this disaster, may apply for assistance at their local FSA office. They must be able to repay the loan and any other loans, be unable to get credit elsewhere and have adequate security. The interest rate for these loans is 3.75 percent. The terms of the loan may vary depending on the purpose and collateral. Additional information regarding eligibility and other loan requirements may be obtained by contacting your local FSA county office. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
