SENIOR BOYSPublished Wednesday, November 13, 1996 in the Nevada County PicayuneFor the second time in the young season, the Jays have tangled with the Saratoga Bulldogs. Unfortunately, the end results were the same as the 'Dogs posted a 61-57 win, handing Nevada its second loss of the year. The Jays started well, keeping pace with the 'Dogs but trailed 20-19 after one. By halftime, the Jays trailed 36-34, only to find the Saratoga squad more than ready in the third as it reeled to a 50-41 lead, holding on in the fourth for the victory. Murphy led the way for the Jays with 18 points, while Julius Gulley netted 11 in the effort. The Jays, like all other teams, failed to shut down Jason McDonald, who scored 27. Ace Stuart contributed 13 in the win, while Kenyon Johnson added 12. The Jays shot well at the line, hitting six of eight, while the 'Dogs netted 12 of 20 shots at the stripe.
