Blue Jays Defeat Stephens; NHS Girls Drop Two GamesBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, November 13, 1996 in the Nevada County Picayune By JOHN MILLER Nevada's Bluejays outran the Stephens Roadrunners 57-53, Thursday, Nov. 7. The Jays controlled the game throughout the first half, leading 15-13 at the end of one and held a slim 29-28 halftime advantage. The Roadrunners were able to take the lead, 46-45, in the third period, but were outclassed in the final stanza. Ricardo Young dominated scoring with 24 points, including a trio of three-pointers. Eric Murphy followed with 10 for the Jays. Stephens was led by Robert Turner with 13. The Roadrunners had a tough night at the charity stripe, connecting on one of five attempts.
