Arch WyliePublished Wednesday, November 13, 1996 in the Nevada County PicayuneArch Wylie, 87, of Hope died Thursday, November 7, 1996, in Hope. Born September 27, 1909 in Guernsey, he was the son of George and Lucille Hutchinson Wylie. He was a prominent businessman and civic leader, owner of the Wylie Glass and Salvage, a member of Whitfield Masonic Lodge 239, a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the Millwood Shrine Club and a member of the Golden `K' Club. He also served on the board of the School of Hope and Hope Sheltered Workshop. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and a member of the Century Bible Class. He had an active part in many other organizations of the community. In 1987, he was awarded citizen of the year. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Wylie of Hope; two sons, Birkett Wylie and Dale Wylie both of Hope; one daughter Ruth Snn Hairston of Hope; one sister, Allena Scott of Monroe, La.; six grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. Services were held Saturday, November 9, at First United Methodist Church in Hope with Revs. Davis Thompson and Ralph Hale officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens in Hope under the direction of Brazzel-Oakcrest Chapel Funeral Home in Hope. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, P.O.
