WCC Educational Conference SetPublished Wednesday, July 28, 1999 in the Nevada County PicayuneMedical, legal and insurance issues will be explained at the 13th annual Workers' Compensation Commission (WCC) educational conference to be held at the Double Tree Hotel in Little Rock August 25-27. Two pre-conference seminars will be offered for small businesses and claims representatives: The first will be a Small Business Seminar that begins Wednesday, August 25, at 10 a.m. Topics include workers' compensation, the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Family Medical Leave Act. Pre-registration is required. The $20 fee includes lunch. The WCC form-filling seminar will begin on Wednesday, August 25, at 1:30 p.m. This second seminar is for insurance representatives, self-insured employers and/or third party administrators. Pre-registration is required to receive materials. There is no fee. The educational conference begins on Wednesday, August 25, at 3 p.m. with the opening of the exhibits. The registration fee is $150. This includes a 5 p.m. reception; an 8:30 p.m. dance featuring Little Joe and the Bks; lunch; two breakfasts; and all meetings. Those attending the educational conference may also attend the pre-conference seminars on Wednesday at no additional charge. However, pre-registration is required to ensure a seat, meals and materials. Thursday and Friday sessions include ethics; return-to-work; case law; mediation; trends; adjudication; back pain/back injuries; awards; fraud; and a discussion of WCC plans for a new rule resulting from legislation calling for a drug-free workplace.
