GIRL TAKENPublished Wednesday, November 13, 1996 in the Nevada County PicayuneEdwin James Crawley, 19, of Prescott faces several charges after reportedly taking a girl from Maxine's Diner Sunday afternoon around 3:30. According to Jim Westmoreland, criminal investigator with the NCSO and Prescott Police Department, Crawley allegedly forced a girl out of the diner against her will and into his car. They left the area, but the car was spotted stuck in a wooded area near the Hale Ave. Apartments. Crawley was found and arrested by Sheriff Vines and Sgt. Walt DeYoung of the PPD. He faces charges of false imprisonment in the second degree battery third degree, criminal mischief and a number of traffic violations. Westmoreland said the girl was injured while being taken from the diner, while Maxine Milner was also hurt in the scuffle, trying to prevent the incident from occurring.
