Jewell Herron

Jewell (Freeman) Herron, 92, of Curtis died Friday, November 8, 1996, at Baptist Medical Center in Arkadelphia.

She was born December 27, 1903, in the Shiloh community. She was the daughter of the late Jeff and Maggie Lamb Freeman. She was owner and operator of Herron Grocery, which she and her husband opened in 1940. She was a member of the Curtis Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Howard `Shorty' Herron.

Survivors include two sons, Clifford Herron of Waxhaw, N.C., and Harris Herron of Curtis; two daughers, Ananelle Beene of Curtis and Relda Dodwell of Hot Springs; 10 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

Funeral services were Saturday, November 9, at the Murry-Ruggles Funeral Home in Arkadelphia with Bobby Cook and Rev. Frank Henson officiating. Interment was in Shiloh Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Curtis Baptist Church Building, Covenant Baptist Church Building Fund in Lancaster, S.C., or Shiloh Cemetery Fund.
