Navy Petty Offier 3rd Class Maurice S. Gulley, son of Betty J. Gulley of 607 Sycamore St., Gurdon recently reported for duty with Commander Fleet Activities, Yokosuka, Japan.

Gulley's new assignment is an example of how Navy and Marine Corps men and women are assigned to ships, squadrons and shore commands around the world. Whether serving in the Persian Gulf near Iraq or in the Adriatic Sea near Bosnia, people like Gulley are making a difference as they work to improve their knowledge and skill as part of the most highly technical naval force in history.

The 1990 graduate of Gurdon High School joined the Navy in July 1992.
