Go-Devil Basketball Schedule Is Tough

Gurdon roundball action is underway now with the Go-Devils playing this week on Tuesday and Friday.

On Tuesday the Gurdon teams were to have visited Sparkman. Friday night they will host the Lewisville Red Devils in their first conference action of the new season.

And the Go-Devils are playing in a new conference this year, even different from the football season. They will be contending in the 7A South Conference, which includes several tough teams.

In the conference are Nevada, Stephens and Stamps, which are expected to give the Gurdon teams a go for their money. This conference has always been a tough one.

Other schools in the conference, besides the ones mentioned, are Genoa Central and Bradley.

December 2-7 the Gurdon junior teams will participate in the Blevins Junior Invitational Tournament. That tourney always features some of the area's best junior teams, the stars of tomorrow.

Gurdon's senior girls will be a challenge in the SAU Senior Invitational Tournment December 2-7 in Magnolia. This is a tough one.

The senior teams will play in the Dierks Invitational Tournament December 9-14.

December 9-14, the senior boys will play in the SAU Senior Boys Invitaional, one of south Arkansas' finest tourneys.

During the Christmas holidays, Gurdon will begin a mini tournament so the teams will be ready for regular season after New Year's Day. The Go-Devil Classic will be held December 27 and 28, a Friday and Saturday.

January 4-11, Gurdon will participate in the Saratoga Senior Invitationl Tournament, the southwest Arkansas classic.

The Gurdon junior teams will play in their district tournament February 10-15 at Stephens.

The senior district tournament will be held February 17-22 at Nevada.

The regional tournament will be held February 24-March 1. The site has not been selected yet.

The Class A state tournament will be held March 3-8, site unknown.

State finals will be held March 14 and 15 at the Pine Bluff Convention Center.
