Nevada cooled the Genoa City Dragons in three games Friday night.

The Bluejays downed the senior boy's team with a 49-32 score as defense ruled the contest.

The Jays opened on the short end of an 11-8 score, but rallied to take the lead at 18-15 by halftime. The Jays scored 15 points in the third quarter as they posted a 33-25 advantage and cruised to the victory.

Joseph Young ripped the cords for 16 to lead the Jays offensively. Julius Gulley contributed 14 in the win as well.

The Dragons' leading scorer was Wes Douglas with 10.

Neither team spent much time at the free throw lines as Nevada connected on two of five and the Dragons were one of two.

LADY JAYS -- 46

GENOA CENTRAL -- 37

The Lady Jays made it two in a row when they cooled the Lady Dragons in the night's second game with a 46-37 score.

The Nevada quintet made it clear from the outset they were on the court to play as they took a 9-2 opening quarter lead.

By halftime, the Lady Jays were in a game as the Lady Dragons had narrowed the margin to 20-17 and showed they weren't going to roll over and play dead.

The game remained close at the end of the third period as the Lady Jays were still ahead by three at 30-27, but the home team responded in the final eight minutes to put the contest on ice.

Dilesha Easter had the hot hand for Nevada with 15 points on the night. Ramona Evans connected on four deuces for eight points.

Two Lady Dragons were in double figures, as Lyndsey Green netted 12 and C. Kirsey added 10.

The charity stripe saw more action in this game as Nevada was eight of 10 and Genoa Central was 13 of 19.

JUNIOR JAYS -- 51

JUNIOR DRAGONS -- 34

The sweep began with the Nevada junior boys putting the hurt on their counterparts 51-34.

The Jays showed no mercy as they opened with an 8-7 lead, pushing it to a 21-17 advantage at the half.

By the end of the third six minutes of play, the Jays were in control 37-25. Still they were relentless as they outscored the Dragons 14-9 in the final period.

Keon Page was flying high for Nevada with 18 points on the night. Geoffrey Box showed he, too, could play string music as he added 17.

Mason led Genoa with 16 points, while Chris Brown scored 10.

The only negative for the Jays came at the charity stripe where they shot poorly, hitting two of 12. Genoa, on the other hand did better, netting nine of 16.

The senior Jays will entertain Magnolia Dec. 3, while the junior squads are participating in the Blevins Junior Invitational Tournament.
