Capitol Rotunda To Host Santa, Elves This Season

Santa Claus and his elves will visit with children several times throughout the upcoming holiday season in the Captiol rotunda, according to Secretary of State Sharon Priest.

Santa will first appear from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, December 6, during the Capitol arts and crafts show, which lasts the entire weekend. Santa will return on Saturday, Decdember 7, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. except for a two-hour period, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., when he will ride in the annual downtown Christmas parade.

The Capitol lighting ceremony takes place at the end of the parade, at approximately 5:45 p.m.

Santa's hours on December 8 are 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. during the open house reception for the state's citizens.

Santa will be back from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. December 14; 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, December 15, and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, December 21.

Hispanic Santa will be on hand from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, December 21, to visit with the state's Spanish-speaking children.

African-American Santa will be at Santa's Castle in the rotunda from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, December 22.
