Our first term finals will be on the 18th and 19th, and any make-ups will be on the 20th. On the following calendar, please note we will be making necessary schedule changes next week -- the 2nd through the 6th. We have tried to keep schedule changes to a minimum and will continue to do so. We will not overload a class to comply with a change unless it is absolutely necessary. We already have some classes which are currently overloaded due to a large addition of new students. I don't think I can recall a year quite like this has been as far as gaining and losing students. We have gained more than forty new students, but currently have three less than we ended with last year. Our problem is we are losing students from all grades, but 90 percent of all new students are ninth graders. This has overloaded several of our ninth grade classes and will allow little flexibility in schedule changes. Students have been coming in to ask about the Arkansas Academic Challenge Scholarship and the federal financial aid forms. As of this writing, I have not received the Academic Challenge applications. I have the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), but cannot be mailed until current-year taxes are completed after January 1. I'll be handing them out to seniors before we leave for the Christmas break.
