Christmas Parade SetPublished Wednesday, November 27, 1996 in the Gurdon TimesA `Christmas in Gurdon' promotion and parade has been planned for downtown Gurdon on Saturday, December 7, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Chamber of Commerce has sponsored this annual event for eight years to encourage local citizens to do their holiday shopping in their hometown. The Christmas parade will start at 10:00 a.m. and will include an appearance by Santa Claus. First and second prizes will be awarded to the best floats. In addition to the parade there will be a drawing for a $100 gift certificate and two $50 gift certificates. Entry boxes for the gift certificates will be placed in the downtown stores of local merchants. Drawing will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday for gift certificates, at Kuhn's Sentry Hardware. Merchants are encouraged to have special sales and promotions. All local churches, businesses, organizations and schools are urged to participate in the parade with decorated cars or floats.
