GHS Deficient In Area Of Special Ed (cont)BY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, November 27, 1996 in the Gurdon Times iscussed the possible sale of the former GMS, saying he wrote letters to interested parties. New Bethel AME Church, he said, is interested in purchasing the cafeteria, which has not yet been appraised. He said Delores Hodge, director of the Clark County Youth Development Council, is interested in purchasing the entire facility, but must wait until mid-January to see if the agency gets a grant for the purchase. No response was received from the Rev. Bobby Marshall with the Bethel CME Church. Smithson suggested waiting until early February before soliciting bids for the property, with the board agreeing. The final order of business was a short discussion of the failed annexation vote. Smithson said he has spoken with an attorney after learning the school could become part of the city without a vote. However, he said the findings were not great as the law requires the property in question to be contiguous with the city limits. "I believe it's out of the question," he said of having GHS inside the city limits. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
