PHS Girls, NHS Boys Take Inter-County Win (cont)BY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, December 4, 1996 in the Nevada County Picayune The Cubs were the only one of the three Prescott teams to post a win against arch-rival Gurdon. Prescott's junior boys utilized a strong second-half to take the 45-37 victory. Gurdon won the first half 26-22, having to hold on against the Cubs after leading 15-11 at the end of one. The Prescott defense literally pitched a no-hitter in the third period as the Cubs took the lead at 30-26. Both crews fought hard in the final six minutes, but the visiting Cubs proved to be too much for Gurdon to handle. Brian Woodley led the Cubs with 16 points on the night, while teammate Matt Brannon scorched the nets for 10. Sampson Kadiri paced Gurdon with 13 points, including three threes, while Oliver Webster netted 10, with two treys.
