Guilty Plea Earns 10 Years For DealerBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, December 4, 1996 in the Nevada County Picayune By JOHN MILLER A 37-year-old Prescott man has been sentenced to 10 years in the state penitentiary after pleading guilty to drug charges. Curtis Wilson, who was arrested Feb. 23, 1996, entered the guilty plea in court Nov. 25. Nevada County Sheriff Harold Vines developed information Wilson had been selling drugs out of his home on W. Elm Street and obtained a search warrant. However, when the Nevada County Sheriff's Office and Prescott Police Department went to serve the warrant on Feb. 8, 96, Wilson wasn't home. Vines later received information on Feb. 12 stating Wilson was at his residence, and the warrant was served. But, when the officers attempted to enter Wilson's house, he would not answer the door, forcing them to kick it in. When officers tried to force their way inside, Wilson reportedly tried to block the door then ran to the back of the house where he hid. He was found hiding in a utility room with a .22 caliber rifle, which was loaded, and a 12-gauge shotgun, which was not loaded. Officers also found a vinyl zipper bag with 15 individual plastic bags of a green leafy substance which proved to be marijuana. They also found drug paraphernalia and cash. Wilson was subsequently charged with possession of a controlled substance, namely marijuana, with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia and simultaneous possession of weapons and drugs, a class Y felony.
