Christmas On The Squaer Is ThursdayPublished Wednesday, December 4, 1996 in the Nevada County PicayuneChristmas on the Square will be held Thursday, Dec. 5 on the front lawn of the Nevada County Courthouse. Those planning to attend are asked to bring lawn chairs. In case of extremely cold weather, the programs will be held inside. The festivities will begin with the Prescott High School Band taking center stage from 5-5:30 p.m. under the direction of John Kelly. This will be followed by the Bright Beginnings Singers, as directed by Patsy Sandford and Shari Foreman. This will be from 5:30- 5:45. From 5:45-6 o'clock, the First Presbyterian Preschool and Daycare will perform, with Tracy Mayo directing. The Emmet K-3 Choral Group will take over from 6-6:15. They will be replaced by the Emmet 4-6 grade choral group from 6:15-6:30. From 6:30-6:45 the Central Baptist Church Sanctuary Choir, led by Chuck Sullivan, will sing. Then comes the First Methodist Church Children's Choir, from 6:45-7, with Betty Wingfield in command. The Prescott 5-6 grade girls choral group, directed by Yvonne Thomas, will perform from 7-7:15, while the Prescott Middle School Choral Club, will take over from 7:15-7:30. From 7:30-7:45, the Prescott High School Choral Club will sing, with Thomas at the helm. Wingfield will direct the First Methodist Church's Hand Bell Choir from 7:45-8, as well as the church's Chancel Choir from 8-8:15, with this concluding the program. However, children of all ages will be glad to hear Santa will make his first official visit to Prescott at 6 p.m. A photographer will be on hand to record this momentous occasion for all interested.
