Butler Completes Exam To Become TechnicianPublished Wednesday, December 11, 1996 in the Nevada County PicayuneJo Carol Butler of Arkadelphia successfully completed the examination to become certified as an ophthalmic technician on October 26 in Chicago, Ill. She is now entitled to use the credential COT (certified ophthalmic technician) following her name. The announcement was made by Frank S. Teed, M.D., of Arkansas Eye Surgery, where Butler is employed. The certification examination is administered by the Joint Commissiobn on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO). JCAHPO is the natiojnal certifying agency for ophthalmic medical personnel. It was founded in 1969 and serves to enhance the quality and availability of ophthalmic patient care by providing certification and continuing education and by supporting the utilization of allied health personnel. By successfully completing the JCAHPO examination, Butler is recognized for having professional qualifications and knowledge in ophthalmic medical assisting and demonstrating personal commitment toward maintaining the highest possible level of eye care for the public.
