her and invest in our local schools to make sure of its continued success.

"Finally, it is my humble opinion we must prepare our children to be better, smarter and more prepared to face the challenges and uncertainties of the future."

The final area of funding will be to refurbish the city's sidewalks. This will receive 6 percent of the pie.

"We have many sidewalks that are cracked, broken, grown over or simply needed," Taylor said. "The same goes for streets.

"As you may now, the city, in its general operating budget, has appropriated funds for basic needs in relation to both of these areas.

"Because of budget constraints, funds in this area are only useable to do patch work and upkeep. It's like putting a band-aid over a problem instead of fixing it."

These additional funds, he continued, will help the city solve problems as well as do a better job in relation to sidewalk and street repair, maintenance and upkeep.

"Once again, this is an investment that helps improve the quality of life and makes our city a safer and better place to live," he said.

"In summary," Taylor said, "we have a product, and that product is the City of Prescott.

"We must invest into our product if we are going to sell it to existing business and industry and attract new business and industry.

"All of these programs will become a reality, but it will take hard work by city officials, employees, the EDO, area health care providers, educators and the good citizens of the City of Prescott.

"Again, I ask you to stand with me and invest in our soon to be great product -- the City of Prescott. Help me turn the slogan of "City of Progress" into actions, not words. I ask you help me invest your money so Prescott is a place you can be proud to live."
