Plans for a new gymnasium at Emmet High School will be unveiled at a public meeting Thursday, December 12, at the school.

According to Superintendent Dr. Gene Ross, the district will show proposed plans at a public meeting beginning at 8 p.m., with the school board meeting at 9.

The district is seeking input from the public and hope citizens of the rural Nevada County community can attend and make their voices known concerning the new structure.

Both meetings are open to the public.

The district's gymnasium burned November 19 in an early morning fire -- and two suspected arsonists have been arrested in the case.

The gym was insured for $372,000 but the district could receive up to $409,000 to rebuild.

It is believed the district might have to seek additional funds to supplement the insurance check on the rebuilding.
