The squad dropped a heartbreaker, 50-49, to Ouachita on Nov. 18 in overtime. The Warriors opened the game with an 8-5 lead after one, and were up 19-11 at the half. However, the Devils fought back with a strong third quarter, taking the lead at 33-28. The Warriors outscored Gurdon 15-10 in the fourth period, forcing the overtime. Rashun Hopson led the Devils with 24 points, while Derek Anderson sent 13 through the goal. J. Marks paced Ouachita with 12. The Devils shot decently from the charity stripe, netting five of 11, while their opponents were 20 of 41 from the line. GURDON 34 ARKADELPHIA 42 Arkadelphia's Beavers dropped the Devils 42-34 in a game played Nov. 21. The Devils opened well, taking a 10-4 lead at the end of one, but faltered in the second period as the Beavers closed the gap to 14-13 at the half. The Beavers took control of the contest in the third with a 16-9 spurt to lead 29-23. Again, it was the tandem of Anderson and Hopson leading the way for Gurdon with 12 each. M. Buckley netted a dozen for Arkadelphia, with teammate Macon adding 11. Gurdon was an even .500 from the line, connecting on six of 12, while Arkadelphia was seven of 15 at the stripe. GURDON 37 PRESCOTT 44 A scoreless third period against the Curley Cubs on Nov. 26, proved to be the downfall for Gurdon in a 44-37 loss. The Devils opened with a 15-11 lead, and were up 26-22 at intermission. However, the Cubs rallied in the third period outscoring Gurdon 8-0 in taking a 30-22 lead, and held on for the win. Sampson Kadiri paced Gurdon with 13 points, while Anderson netted 10. Brian Woodley led Gurdon with 16, with Matt Brannon adding 10. The Devils rarely went to the line, and were 0-2 when they did. Prescott was four of eight from the stripe. GURDON 53 BLEVINS 32 The Devils offense came alive in the Blevins Tournament as Gurdon blasted the host team 53-32. Gurdon started the game hot, taking a 16-12 lead and continued stretching its advantage. At the half, the Devils led 28-18. By the end of three, the Hornets had no sting left as they were roasting 43-27. Brannon Hatley led the assault with 17 points. Hopson contributed 13, with Anderson adding 11. Johnson was the only offense Blevins has as he scored 24 points. The Devils were seven of 17 in free throw attempts, while Blevins was eight of 21.
