GPD Makes Drug BustPublished Wednesday, December 11, 1996 in the Gurdon TimesBY JOHN MILLER A 21-year-old Gurdon man has been arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. According to Gurdon City Marshal David Childres, Kevin Marks, also known as "Kaboo", was arrested at approximately 8:15 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5 after he was observed selling a substance believed to be crack cocaine to an individual out of his car. Childres said $100 in marked money was used to make the transaction, with the money recovered when the arrest was made. Marks is being held in the Clark County jail on a $100,000 bond. His vehicle, a 1986 Mustang, was also confiscated by the GPD and Drug Task Force. Childres said the Clark County Sheriff's Office helped in the arrest. DOMESTIC DISPUTE Gurdon police avoided a potentially lethal situation Saturday, Dec. 7 when answering a domestic disturbance call. According to reports, GPD received a domestic dispute call at about 6:30 p.m. concerning a husband and wife fighting. Marshal Childres and officer Chris Harper responded, along with Sgt. Don Childres. Harper and the marshal arrived first and saw a woman on the ground screaming. As they approached, they were told Daren Tucker had "torn up" the mobile home and was drunk. They were also told the suspect was armed with a handgun. At this time, Tucker was seen running from behind the trailer on Miller Street toward the officers. He was ordered to stop and place his hands against the trailer, but refused. Tucker attacked the officers, grabbing for the Sgt. Childres' holstered weapon. Tucker was then sprayed with mace, but most of the spray missed. He broke free and grabbed a piece of two-by-four lumber attempting to strike the officers. Sgt. Childres struck Tucker in the head with his flashlight, rendering the suspect unconscious. Tucker was handcuffed and an ambulance called to transport him to BMCA for treatment. He was later taken to the Clark County jail. Marshal Childres said Tucker is expected to be charged with aggravated assault in the matter.
