Wolverettes Win Murfreesboro Tournament (cont)BY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, December 18, 1996 in the Nevada County Picayune 0 lead at the end of one, and were up 19-16 at the half. At the end of three, the Lady Devils controlled the score at 37-32. However, the Cubettes pulled out all the stops in the final six minutes to outscore Gurdon 15-7 and take the victory. Traci Graham led the way with 20 points, six rebounds and five assists, while teammate Denisha Williamson netted 13, including three treys. Gina Haynie led the team in cleaning the backboard with 13 rebounds. Tiffany Ware paced Gurdon with 11 points. The Cubettes had a rough night at the charity stripe as they only hit nine of 25. Gurdon converted three of nine. PRESCOTT 29 ARKADELPHIA 28 It took a solid third quarter to give the Cubettes a 29-28 win over the Lady Beavers on Tuesday, Dec. 10. The game stayed close throughout as the Lady Beavers took a 7-5 lead after one and held a 14-13 halftime advantage. The Cubettes, though, stung Arkadelphia's juniors 12-4 in the third period to go up 25-18 and held on for the win. Graham led the scoring attack with 11, while Williamson sent two in from downtown. The Cubettes connected on five of 10 free throws, while the Lady Beavers were 0-2. CUBETTES 9 ARKADELPHIA 20 Prescott's eighth grade Cubettes had a tough time against the Lady Beavers as they fell 20-9.
