Two inter-local agreements were approved by the Prescott City Council at its regular meeting Monday night.

Nevada County Ambulance Service's agreement was approved by the council for the second year in a row.

The agreement is needed in order for the city to help fund half of the appropriation by the Nevada County Quorum Court.

The $25,000 the city plans on spending in 1997 is down from last year's $36,000 for the same services contracted.

A second inter-local agreement dealt with the city approving a $1,000 donation to the Nevada County Rescue Unit for its early warning radar system for which the unit hopes to put in place in 1997.

The system will be placed at the unit's building in Prescott and provide early warning detection of severe thunderstorms and high tornadic winds.

The Rescue Unit also has a fund raising event going on which ends Friday, December 20. In addition donations may be made to one of the unit's members or at the Bank of Prescott.

Council members approved appropriations to close out the 1996 books.

This involved several transfers from within city budgets, as well as additional expenses incurred beyond what was anticipated when budgets were approved in 1996.

An additional appropriation of $25,000 for dozer work and other expenses was approved for the Nevada County Landfill.

The council is expected to approve its 1997 budget in January.

Members have already received the proposed budget and briefly discussed it Monday night.

Council members also discussed the over-run of budgets for 1996.

Additional expense has been incurred for electrical and sewage work being done in the new annexed areas of the city.

In addition the city has incurred additional expense in the police department since two officers have been in the academy.

Officers in training are paid for attending class and other part time officers are paid for filling in.
