Drug Arrrest MadePublished Wednesday, December 25, 1996 in the Nevada County PicayuneA vehicle stopped in the middle of a county road led to the arrest of a 27-year-old Prescott man for misdemeanor drug possession. Jim Westmoreland, criminal investigator with the Prescott Police Department and Nevada County Sheriff's Office, said while on routine patrol, Saturday, Dec. 14, deputy Jason Arrington spotted a 1995 Mustang in the middle of county road 222, with the engine running. There were three people in the car at the time. Arrington approached the vehicle and upon learning the name of the oldest one in the car, he ran a warrant check, finding out Michael Jason Kenworthy was wanted on an outstanding warrant in Miller County. Arrington also noticed marijuana residue on the floor of the vehicle as well as detecting the odor of the illegal weed when the window was rolled down. A search of the area turned up a cigarette package filled with a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana. Arrington placed Kenworthy under arrest. The other two in the car were juveniles and had no charges filed against them. Kenworthy was charged with possession of a controlled substance, marijuana, under an ounce, a class A misdemeanor, and taken to the Nevada County Jail.
