Booklet Available To Stop Smoking During New Year

Published Wednesday, January 1, 1997 in the Gurdon Times

If kicking the smoking habit is on your list of New Year's resolutions, let the American Lung Association of Arkansas help make that resolution a reality.

A free booklet entitled "Clearing the Air" is being offered by the American Lung Association of Arkansas and Christmas Seals.

The informative booklet offers a variety of tips and helpful hints on kicking the habit, including how to prepare yourself, avoiding temptations, withdrawal symptoms, snacks and activities, and long-tem benefits. By explaining what to expect, the booklet can guide you throught the day-by- day process of becoming a nonsmoker.

The American Lung Association is fighting for your breath and the breath of the 230,000 Arkansans who suffer from incurable lung disease, many caused by the effects of cigarette smoke.

Christmas Seals help fund programs and materials such as "Clearing the Air" to help current smokers quit and prevent our children from becoming the next generation of smokers.

The 1996 Christmas Seals Campaign is currently underway in Arkansas, and the American Lung Association urges everyone to answer their Christmas Seal letter as generously as possible.
