Flon `Red' Melton

Flon `Red' Melton, 66, of Donaldson died Thursday, December 26, 1996, at Baptist Medical Center in Arkadelphia.

He was born November 20, 1930, in Sage, the son of the late Ewing and Rugh Simmons Melton. He was a diesel mechanic and a member of Mt. Bethel Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cleta Joan Cook Melton, and two brothers, Boyce and Hue Dean Melton.

Survivors include one son, Phillip Melton of Donaldson; six daughters, Reba Crenshaw of Traskwood, Cindy Ashley and Joanna Fendley, both of Arkadelphia, Charla Bledsoe of Prescott, Debra Pate of Glenwood and Jannett Cox of Athens, Texas; one brother, Ronald Melton of Yuma, Arizona; two sisters, Pearlene Shell of Arkadelphia and Uneda Watters of Mountain Home; fifteen grandchildren, five great grandsons.

Funeral services were held Saturday, December 28, at the Murry-Ruggles Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Themon Jenkins officiating. Interment was in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
