PMS Selected To Receive Grant For ProgramPublished Wednesday, January 1, 1997 in the Nevada County PicayunePrescott Middle School has been selected to receive a grant for the year 1996 from the Arkansas State Recognition program. The project, Plan for Cub Pride, was developed to encourage students to improve their grades. All fifth and sixth grade students were provided a planning agenda to help them to organize their homework assignments and other projects and activities. The goal was to increase their grade average from the previous grading period. Organizational skills acquired from use of the agendas and incentive rewards seemed to make it a goal that many of the students reached during the first nine-week period. These fifth and sixth grade students succeeded in raising their grade averages. They were given Cub Pride award certificates and Club Pride pencils in an assembly. They were also rewarded with a popcorn party recently. It is hoped that these incentives will encourage other students to increase their grade averages, a news release from the school stated.
