Rashad Johnson Earns Honors As Friday Night Flights All-Star

Prescott High School football player Rashad Johnson was honored as a member of the 1996 Friday Night Flights All-Star team at a banquet held Monday, December 16, at KARK studios.

News 4 sports director Steve Sullivan hosted the 8th annual event which honored 32 athletes from high school football teams across the state. The All-Stars were chosen by virtue of their superior athletic ability as well as by their academic performance.

"The talent seems to be better every year," Sullivan said. "This year's average GPA for the players was above 3.4. It's important to Channel 4 to recognize outstanding athletes who demonstrate excellence both on the field and in the classroom. We feel these skills will carry them to greater achievement throughout their lives."

In addition to the All-Stars, Dan Dawson from Bauxite High School was chosen as player of the year, Derrick Banks of Brinkley received the Greg Shelton Memorial Award and John Karneso of Dover was chosen as coach of the year.

The honorees were featured in the Friday Night Flights All-Star special, which aired on Channel 4 December 18.
