Hee-Haw Is Saturday NightPublished Wednesday, January 8, 1997 in the Gurdon TimesCurtain time will be 7:00 p.m. this Saturday, January 11, for the 1997 Gurdon Hee-Haw Show. The annual Close Up fund raising event will be held in the middle school auditorium. It promises to provide laughs a minute with live music, special singing and jokes of all sorts for the entire family. Gurdon's own `Gradpa Jones' will made a special appearance with his supper menu. Brother James Guthrie will expound on the humorous side of social and political life in Clark County during story time. Phil Robkin of the nationally known `Robkin Radio Family' will recite jokes from his family joke book. You will not believe the antics that will be presented by Dr. George Peeples and Phillip Brown taken from their trips across America. Brother Lloyd Perry will add a Methodist view of life in Clark County to the program. A special visit from Clark County's own Mimmie Pearl is expected along with Junior Sample. Singers this year for Hee-Haw include Ashley Blanton, Elizabeth Sheppard, Le Andra Jester, Terry Hughes, Winnie Clark and special guest Nashville recording artist Harry Blanton. Jerry Hilton and the Ouachita Riverbottom Band including Jimmy Hilton, Burl Gills and Freddie Horne, will round out the entertainment along with the entire Hee-Haw gang. Grab your cowboy hats, bring your cowbells and turn on your giggle box for the 1997 Gurdon Hee-Haw Show Saturday, January 11, at the Gurdon Middle School auditorium. Admission is $3 in advance or at the door. Tickets may be purchased from any Close Up student. All proceeds will go to the Gurdon Close Up program to help fund the students' trip to Washington, D.C.
