GHS Girls Fall In Finals At Tourney (cont)BY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, January 15, 1997 in the Gurdon Times f Genoa Central in their opening game of the SWAR tourney, Saturday, Jan. 4. However, the Devils were able to cool the Dragons 59-51 in the contest and advance to the next level. Gurdon started with a 16-14 lead at the end of one and held a 25-20 halftime advantage. By the end of the third, the Devils lead was double-digit at 48-35. Corey Marsh had the hot hand for the Devils as he scorched the nets for 20 points. Eric Hatley was next, stringing 13 points through the nylon. W. Douglas led the Dragons with 14. The Devils were five of 11 at the line, with Genoa Central hitting eight of 14. Gurdon will officially dedicate its new gymnasium Friday night with ceremonies scheduled between the senior girls and boys game against league rival Stamps.
